KIDS IN THE KITCHEN
Decorati is working with the South Western Sydney Local Health to combat the childhood obesity statistics. Our cooking workshops are a hands on cooking class to grow healthy bodies and minds. Children will have the opportunity to learn about food and nutrition and develop cooking skills which is a lifelong skill. Cooking skills such as learning to measure and pour, mix and stir, chop and slice are all important skills that help strengthen and develop their small muscles and hand/eye coordination. Children develop their cognitive, language, maths and science skills by following steps and reading recipes.
We visit Early Childhood services, Vacation Care centres and Primary Schools as part of incursions and we also run these workshops at private groups and events.

For Early Childhood services:

The National Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework are incorporated into our workshops delivering high quality services. We stand by Element 2.1.3 “Healthy eating and physical activity are promoted and appropriate for each child” and align with the learning outcomes particularly

Learning Outcome 4.1: “Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity”.

In our cooking workshops we bring all the supplies, materials and ingredients and handle the clean up.

We will need:

  • Tables and chairs for the children to sit at
  • Workspace table

We work in partnership with the rooms Educators, so everyone is involved with the children to continue and extend their learning.
